CAPTCHA Form Security
Callsave
uses CAPTCHA code on its
forms.
c.a.p.t.c.h.a. = completely automated public Turing test
to tell computers and humans apart.
In other words, captcha is used to protect web forms
against spammers. Captcha can be a great help in reducing
form spamming.
Captcha uses text or image recognition to validate a
form and prevent spammers using internet 'bots' to use web
forms improperly. Internet robots ('bots'),are programs
made to scour the web for forms and e-mail addresses.
Sometimes the image contains text that is distorted, to
confuse bots that employ image recognition techniques.
Our eyes are much more sophisticated than bots,
recognising complex images and able to extract the numbers
and letters which are in the image. The bot on the other
hand, does not have such sophistication, and mostly is
programmed to extract e-mail addresses from the html code
of a web page.
When you encounter a captcha page and see a code
generated image - usually numbers and letters - you must
insert this code, by typing the same numbers or letters in
the image into a field and if you have copied correctly -
you will be allowed to click the send button and send the
form. This basically means that a human can pass through a
captcha protected form but a bot will have a harder
task.
This method of protection, whilst not perfect, is
usually sufficient for websites where there is little
commercial value in the collected data from the forms.
However, to ensure absolute data security, Callsave
employs SSL technology on it's websites. For further
information on this, please refer to our Site Security Statement.
